The Quiet Contemplator is the Coolest

The Quiet Contemplator is an awesome kid. Yes, she does things that annoy the crap out of me sometimes, but overall, I think she may be one of the coolest kids on earth. Here are a few reasons:

She Loves Chucks
If given the choice of what shoes to wear, she will always pick her hot pink hightop Chuck Taylors. She calls them her "boots". She wants to wear them with everything, and if I am not already on the edge of stabbing someone and willing to invest the 5 minutes it takes to put on, I let her. Dressy, casual, whatever. They are awesome. So is she.

I be stylin', bitches.

She has Great Taste In Movies
Her favorite movies are Pee-Wees Big Adventure, Where The Wild Things Are and Coraline (yes, it is scary but she loves it and doesn't get the scary part yet). I love her so much for liking cool movies and not making me watch Teletubbies or Barney or some other asinine shit over and over again. Pee-Wee I can handle. I know you are, but what am I?

She Digs Cool Music
Her favorite songs are Rumor Has it, by Adele and Rehab, not the original version by Amy Winehouse, but the cover by Keller Williams. When we play Rumor Has It, she dances and shakes her booty like crazy person. As for Rehab, every morning when we drive to school she says, "Mama, can we listen to 'no, no, no' please?" Then she proceeds to wag her finger at me every time the songs says "no, no, no". I die.

She Loves the '80s
And out for the 80 bajillion toys she has, The Quiet Contemplator's favorite doll is Fanny, her original 1985 Cabbage Patch she got to help her through her surgery. It makes mama's heart swoon every time they play together.

Hi, my name is Fanny. I am awesome.

  1. She does have good taste and she's pretty dang adorable. I managed to find some chucks for $5 the other day and even though they won't fit Quinn for at least a year and a half I HAD to get them.

  3. She should hang out with the boy. He wears green chucks. He wanted me to buy him one pink one and one blue one, but I didn't think his father would approve... I told him when we got home, and he was like, "What?? I TOTALLY would have gotten them!"

His favorite movies are "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" (not scared of the boat ride) and "Gulliver's Travels" (PG movie starring Jack Black.

Favorite songs, "Thriller," "Gimme Shelter" and "War Pigs."

If you ever move to MA, I say we breed them.

    1. Oh! And since she likes cool stuff, scary stuff and 80s stuff, you should know that FearNet has a new Saturday morning block for kids, featuring The Real Ghostbusters cartoon! Yay!

  4. I would take Pee Wee any day over Mighty Machines. My child doesn't want to watch cartoons (awesome, right?), but instead, wants to watch Mighty Machines. If you are unfamiliar with this show, it is basically a kids' documentary series on large equipment (bulldozers, garbage trucks, firetrucks, etc.). This sounds awesome right? Notsomuch. The machines "talk" in really exaggerated dialects and accents that are a little "off". There is one (I think a crane or something) that speaks in a really bad Jamaican accent. I guess I shouldn't complain, it isn't Caillou.

    1. Oh, Caillou. If I ever meet his whiny ass in a dark alley it won't be pretty.

  5. I do not have any kids, but I hope that when they do they are as awesome as your daughter. Little kids in chucks is probably one of the cutest things!

  6. This is awesome! She is adorable and sounds very cool, but with you as her mother, she really didn't have a choice otherwise! I especially love the music thing. At 1 year old, Ethan's favorite songs were by Journey and Coldplay. MUCH BETTER than "The Wheels on the Bus."

I love hearing from you. It reinforces that writing this blog is not just a silly waste of my brain matter. If you leave a douche canoe comment, I will delete it. I am powerful like that.
